With sustainability becoming a key component of national development agenda across the Middle East, DuPont, one of the leading science-powered companies, advises the region’s downstream businesses to accelerate the adoption of more eco-friendly practices across their operations. DuPont notes that most of the downstream players have been re-evaluating their strategies in light of the continuing global recession of the past two years and addressing concerns over the long-term effects of carbon dioxide emissions in major oil-producing territories.
Environmental and other vital dimensions of downstream activities will be addressed during Middle East Downstream Week 2011, a premier event taking place from May 8 to 11, 2011 in Abu Dhabi. At booth # 9, DuPont, has been invited to join over 250 industry leaders and decisions-makers from the refining, petrochemicals and fuels sectors to discuss greener downstream approaches during the event. DuPont’s Andy Tyas, Regional Engineering Manager, Clean Fuels Technologies, will be participating in the event as a key panel member. “Local government is strongly promoting downstream businesses which provide immense employment potentials to its young and rapidly growing population. Although the sector is booming, industry players must not lose sight of goals such as energy efficiency and sustainability which have become major issues in the Middle East. The downstream sector must ensure that its plans align with the environmental and economic visions of the region,” said Anil Menon, Country Manager - UAE -Business Development Manager – DuPont Clean Technologies. Middle East Downstream Week 2011 conferences will be held under the theme ‘Bridging the Gap between Strategy and Technology.’ DuPont will highlight its pioneering clean fuel technologies during the conference panel sessions. DuPont offers a host of products and services to the Oil and Gas sector (O&G), ranging from performance materials to safety consultancy. Many standard practices for coating pipes with epoxy were derived from DuPont technologies, with the science company currently delivering the most extensive range of new innovative coating technologies for O&G extraction.
